Under the direct supervision of the ECE Administrator, Fully Qualified Teachers (FQT) are responsible for providing a warm, caring, calm, orderly, safe and healthy early learning environment in accordance with the policies and procedures of the non-subsidized Early Education program.
FQTs may be assigned to work in a classroom with children birth through 12 years or as a support teacher across all age groups.
FQTs are required to provide high quality care, supervision and educational experiences to all children.
FQTs are responsible for the day-to-day supervision of Teacher's Aides, as assigned to their classroom.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES Arrange and create a developmentally appropriate learning environment in accordance with program goals and Maryvale's philosophy that is compliant with ERS at a level 5 rating or higher.
Plan and organize engaging activities to ensure a safe, engaging, and positive early learning environment to meet the emotional, social, physical and cognitive needs of each child.
Provide engaging, developmentally appropriate and culturally diverse daily activities for the children in accordance with Creative Curriculum.
Where applicable, planning and implementation of activities is to be a collaborative effort amongst the teaching team.
Ensure that children assigned to his/her care are visually supervised at all times, in accordance with Maryvale policy and procedure and Title 22 regulations.
Meet with parents for conferences at 60 days, and every 6 months thereafter for review of DRDP and periodically as needed.
Ensure that family inquiries are responded to professionally and in a timely manner.
Complete 21 hours of professional development annually.
Upload said professional development into the Workforce Registry as trainings/coursework are completed.
Attend and actively contribute to:
in-services training, staff meetings, discussion groups.
Maintain regular records on children e.
g.
daily reports home, anecdotals, behavior logs, DRDPs.
Communicate with the appropriate EEC Administrator and/or VP of ECE immediately regarding any issues regarding program or child safety - Maryvale teachers are mandated reporters.
Provide day-to-day supervision, mentorship and training of Teacher's Aides as assigned to the classroom, and provide regular feedback to the ECE administrative team regarding the job performance of said Teacher's Aides.
Work in cooperation with fellow Associates to strive for team cohesiveness.
Use common sense and good judgement to act in accordance with Maryvale policy and procedure.
Problem solve and make sound judgments in all areas affecting the care and supervision of the children entrusted to the care of the program.
FQTs working within the School Age program may be required to transport children to and from school and off site field trips.
FQTs will receive training on related transportation procedures.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Current Immunizations.
Active Fingerprint Clearance.
Completion of 12 Child Development/ECE semester units including the Core Courses (Child Development, AND Child, Family, Community AND Curriculum) and Infant/Toddlers.
Alternate units are acceptable for teachers working in School Age care only; transcripts will be reviewed to verify that the alternate coursework meets Title 22 regulations.
6 months experience working with children; paid or unpaid experience is sufficient.
Fully Qualified Teachers are responsible for maintaining a professional development plan, which includes setting professional growth goals, maintaining 21 hours of professional development annually.
In order to promote to an Associate Teacher position, a Fully Qualified Teacher must have a current permit issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing at the Associate Teacher level or higher AND apply for an Associate Teacher position when available.

In addition, Maryvale will match 66% of an Associate's salary deferral up to a maximum of the next 3% (3%-6%).
Non-Elective Contribution:
After an Associate completes one full year of service, Maryvale on the Associate's behalf, will begin making a fixed non-elective contribution equal to 3% of the Associate's income.
This contribution is separate from the matching contribution and vests over a 5 year period.
