Position Summary
Community Outreach Specialist II is responsible for the education and recruitment of new members of Be the Match/NMDP (BTM). COS II contacts community organizations, businesses, corporations and faith based organizations, and solicits support of BTM to increase the size and diversity of the national registry. COS II solicits support for fundraising efforts to support BTM. Fosters long term relationships and solicits broad support for BTM drives and events. Coordinates marrow drives. Educates the community about the need for marrow donors. Meets quarterly recruitment goals for both minority and Caucasian donors. Meets quarterly fund-raising goals. Maintains accurate records of all events. Researches and develops new leads to support recruitment and fundraising. Works independently and as a team member, maintaining confidentiality and a high level of professionalism.
Position Accountabilities
The following are essential job accountabilities:
Researches community, makes connections, and forms relationships to support BTM.
Meets quarterly Caucasian and minority recruitment goals.
Meets quarterly fundraising goals.
Coordinates with Volunteer Coordinator to provide direction to volunteers as needed.
Recruits new volunteers to support BTM.
Collaborates with community groups and business leaders to create projects to support BTM.
Forms and fosters relationships with corporations and business leaders.
Develops project communications to promote BTM mission and objectives.
Develops and maintains project timelines.
Prepares and provides quarterly sales plans to program director.
Sends out press releases.
Develops presentations.
Delivers presentations to a wide range of audiences.

Position Qualifications
Minimum Education
Bachelors in Marketing, Business, or healthcare related.
Experience may substitute for minimum education requirements.
Minimum Experience
Three years outside sales, fundraising, event planning and/or community outreach experience.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
